Gene Stream
|
|
| |
A
cross-curricular research platform supporting inquiry-based learning |
|
| |
The "Gene Stream" represents
an opportunity to develop long-term undergraduate research experiences
that cross boundaries between teaching classroom and the research
laboratory, and between different disciplines within the natural sciences
and mathematics. The goal is to discover and characterize new genes,
explore the cellular activities of the proteins that they encode,
and ultimately to investigate the cellular functions that these proteins
perform. Our initial research model for this is the freshwater, ciliated
protozoan, Tetrahymena thermophila. For a more in depth description
look at the overview (listed below). |
