Biographical Information
I am Administrator of the North American Office
of the University of
Oslo International Summer School, where we handle
admissions for
students from the United States and Canada for
the ISS, as well as
teaching part -time in the Department of
Norwegian. I edit the NORTANA
Newsletter, a twice-yearly newsletter for members
of the Norwegian
Researchers and Teachers Association of North
America.
I completed my dissertation in
Scandinavian Languages and
Literatures (Germanic Studies) from the University of Minnesota in spring 2006.
The topic of my
dissertation is the work of the Norwegian author
Nini Roll Anker, who
wrote Kirken, the original for the play Borders,
performed for the first
time during the Peace Prize Forum at St. Olaf
College in February, 2000.
I am particularly interested in women's
literature, feminist literary
theory, and juvenile literature. I have also done
research in writing
(especially process writing) in second language
pedagogy.
