Social Conformity and
Influence
Persuasion:*According to the theories on persuasion we are inclined to think deeply about an argument if the issue is one that is relevant and important to us. Unfortunately, we become distracted easily by how the information is presented or by other outside influences, thus lowering our level of scrutiny.
*The use of fear is a powerful incentive to be receptive to the ideas that are being taught.
*The more credibility that the communicator has to a, a very high power of persuasion is utilized.
*As the credibility increases, so does the attractiveness. If something looks very desirable, one is more likely to commit some crime to achieve that desirable object or position.
*Another factor in persuasion is a one-sided argument. This theory has to do with how only hearing one side of an argument can lead to a higher level of persuasion.

Social Cognition
*Priming is a procedure based on the notions that ideas that have been recently encountered or frequently activated are more likely to come to mind and will be used in interpreting events.
*Framing is a factor influencing how we construct a decision, whether a problem or decision is presented in a way that it appears to represent the potentioal for a loss or for a gain.
*A judgmental heuristic is a mental shortcut, a simple rule or strategy for solving a problem.
*An area of judgmental heuristics is a representative heuristic. This involves focusing on the similarity of one subject to another to infer that the fist object acts like the second one.
*Attitude accessibility refers to the strength of the association between a subject and your evaluation of it.

Conformity
*Conformity can be defined as a change in a person's behavior or opinions as a result of real or imagined pressure form a person or a group of people.
*Group membership can increase conformity because a person wants to fit stay a part of that group and belong.
*Compliance is the behavior of a person who is motivated by a desire to gain a reward or avoid punishment.
*Identification is a response to influence brought about by and individual's desire to be like the influencer.

Aggression
*An aggressive action is an intentional bhavior aimed at causing either physical or psychological pain.
*Hostile aggression is an act of aggression stemming from a feeling of anger aimed at inflicting pain or injury.
*Blaming the victim is being convinced that the victim deserves the negative events to which he or she has been subjected.
*Aggressive stimulus is the mere presence of an object associated with aggression that can act as an aggressive cue.
*Deindividuation is finding anonymity by being part of a larger group, thus being comforted by the thought that one is not alone in their actions.
* A script is a certain role that one acts out determined by past experiences or learning.
