My academic training includes a B.A. in English and German from the University of South Dakota, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Scandinavian Languages and Literature from the University of Minnesota. I'm the author of Framing a National Narrative: The Legend Collections of Peter Christen Asbjørnsen, and have developed an interactive beginning Norwegian language course entitled Norwegian for Novices, which was used with an online Norwegian course at the University of Minnesota, and which I am now offering independently on my website. My translation of 64 Hans Christian Andersen stories was published by Barnes and Noble Classics in 2007.
I live in Plymouth. My son Erik and daughter-in-law Jenn graduated from St. Olaf in 2001. They live in Des Moines and are the parents of two little children, Leif and Minna. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening and fishing walleye in Voyageurs National Park with my husband, Mike.
I'm only on campus Tuesday and Thursday this semester, so please e-mail me for a quick response at hult@stolaf.edu.
