Tests and Project Info for Real II -- Fall 2013

Midterm -- 200 pts.--
There will be 1 midterm exam worth 200pts coming at the end of the text material (about the 10 week mark). This will be a definitions/theorems/some proofs exam over the basic theory. This term, the exam will be on November 26 at 8:00 (in class) with a very complete Review Session in RNS 206 at 8:00-9:00 on November 20.
Quizes -- 20pts --
We'll most like have a short quiz or two before that to let you know what kind of things I'll ask.
Project -- 100pts --
By Thursday, November 21, I'd like you to have chosen both your paper topic and the people you'd like to work with on this research paper. Groups should be 3 people each if at all possible. Talk to me soon if you'd like to have a different sized group or if you'd like to work on a topic not on the list of paper topics. On November 21 I'll ask for the groups with topics. Incidentally, it IS OK for two groups to be working on the same topic.
During the final month or so of the course, I'll ask that you write a professional paper on a topic such as these. This will be a group effort with about 3 people per group. During that time we will no longer met as a class, but rather I'll meet individually with each of the groups.
