Well Known Resident of Minnewaska Died Last Friday At Advanced Age.

Thrond Kirkevold, one of the well known residents of Minnewaska township, died Friday Sept. 10. Death was due to heart disease from which he had suffered for some time. He was however confined to his bed only a few hours.

Funeral services will be conducted today at the home and at the Indherred church by Rev N. Forde.

Mr. Kirkevold was born in Valdris, Norway, August 8, 1839. When about twenty years of age he came to this country and settled in Winneshiek county, Iowa, where he was married. Later he moved to Fillmore county, this state, where the family remained until twelve years ago when they came to this county and located on a farm which they bought in Minnewaska.

On last July 25 Mr. and Mrs. Kirkevold celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on which occasion a large number of relatives and friends gathered to pay their respects to the aged couple.

The deceased was a man of splendid qualities. His thorough honesty and his kindliness were characteristics which especially attracted people towards him. He will be greatly missed by those who had the good fortune to associate with him.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Bennie Smedstad of Starbuck and Mrs. Anton Dahl of Reeder, North Dakota, and by six sons, Christian, Thomas, Oscar and Gustaf of this county, Oliver of Redtop, Minn., and Henry of Spring Grove. These have the sympathy of the people of this community in their bereavement.
