On-going Research Topics

I am currently completing materials related to a book manuscript covering activity at the Buddhist site of Baodingshan from the 12th through the 21st centuries.

My recent research deals with the memorials found at My Lai, Nanjing, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. While some may see this as a departure from my Buddhist work on hell and the grotto site of Baodingshan, it is in fact an extension of my interest in sites as sacred spaces, effective uses of text and image, and humankind's attempts to represent the unimaginable.
