NBPTS Writing Assignment
The National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certifies
master teachers through a rigorous process encompassing both
content and pedagogical content knowledge. Pretend that you have
been teaching mathematics for five years and are a candidate for
this prestigious certification, and that I am observing your
teaching as part of the process. You want me to see the best
lesson you can put together.
Write a page or two describing your picture of what I will see
on the day that I observe. You can pick your favorite mathematics
topic, grade level, students, etc. for me to see.
What will I see? Describe what mathematics you are teaching,
what your students are doing, what you are doing, what your room
looks like, etc.
