This article was about teachers from a math curriculum committee in district 52 of Maine, trying to improve the mathematics programs. They began by looking at the same problem in the eyes of their students. They found that each grade level would approach the problem in different ways, yet each way would have a connection to the next. The teachers then began studying the NCTM documents in order to evaluate their program. They thought that a good understanding of the standards would enable them to improve their program, their teaching, and students acheivement.

This article was alright. It didn't give very much detail as to what standards they valued the most, how they implemented them into their classrooms, or the differences between the old and new curriculum. It gave good feedback on the NCTM Principles and Standards and how they were effective in their case, yet it did not say how. They did mention that the standards changed their own mathematical thinking and how they will approach different problems and lessons in their classrooms. I think this article would have been much more helpful if it were more detailed.

This article was about the NCTM and their publishing of mathematical standards. It talked about the principles and standards for math. It just listed what they were and described them. It also listed and described additional standards. The article also talked about the integration of the standards (how to and its importance). It also provided information on how the standards interlock with each other. The article was helpful to me, because I am not extremely familiar with the standards and principles. However, it may be redundant for a professional teacher. It was more of a simple article to inform the uninformed.
