Modern digital and analog electronics abound. Circuit complexity appears to be unlimited. Such is not what I advise.

Instead, I advise circuits that perform at a professional level, but are clear to those taking upper level labs.

This is done by first making the circuits totally portable (and also usually battery powered) so they can be taken into the classroom for discussion, as well as into the lab or the field for subsequent practical use.

Consider for example the modern instrumentation amp shown at the left. It preceeds an A/D converter, gives enough gain to read a thermocouple directly, is straightforward to understand, and is totally portable.

These are the kinds of circuit devices I like to develop.
