Short presentations from local community leaders and about their organizations and opportunities to get involved through internships, academic civic engagement project, community-based work study, volunteering projects, etc.
Organizations attending will include: Northfield Healthy Community Initiative, Laura Baker Services, Tacking Obstacles Raising College Hopes (TORCH), Northfield Arts Guild, Northfield Historical Society, Northfield Area Family Y.M.C.A., Rice County Growing Up Healthy, The Key, Smartwood Rainforest Alliance, Rural Enterprise Center, Youth Development Programs-Northfield Public Schools and others.

2008-09 Academic Civic Engagement Courses
Academic civic engagement enhances typical coursework by encouraging students to apply academic knowledge to address community issues. In the fall semester, eight courses, impacting 140 students and eight community organizations, included an academic civic engagement component. In the spring semester, students in seven courses will be involved with academic civic engagement projects.
