Sunday May 18, 2008
Skoglund Athletic Center
Time:
Transition area opens at 7:00 a.m.
First wave starts at 8:00 a.m.
Awards will be presented after the last finisher
Swim:
The swim will be 500 yards (20 lengths) and will be held in the Skoglund pool. We will start the swim in waves of 12 people, two swimmers per lane. Each wave will go off approximately 15 minutes after the previous wave. Once the athletes finish the swim portion of the race they will exit the pool area through the glass doors on the west side of the pool.
Transition 1:
The transition area will be held in the parking lot immediately to the west of the pool. Athletes will enter the transition area from the pool and exit to the west with their bikes. Athletes will not be allowed to mount their bikes in the transition area.
Bike:
The bike will be 13 miles. The course will be an out and back loop on Old Dutch Road. The athletes will exit campus through the south exit (Hoyme Hill) and cross hwy. 19 to enter Old Dutch Road. The bike course will not have any aid stations, however we will have volunteers to direct traffic at every major intersection. The bikers will finish the bike where they began at the transition area. A timer will record the time that each athlete finishes the bike.
Transition 2:
Each athlete will return their bike to their rack and exit the transition through the run exit. There will be an aid station at the start of the run.
Run:
The run will be a 5k along the cross-country course. The finish of the race will be near the soccer fields, where the cross-country course finishes. There will be an aid station at the finish.
Relays:
Relay teams of three members will also be allowed to enter the race. The swim to bike exchange will be when the swimmer exits the pool and tags the biker in mount zone at the start of the bike. The bike to run transition will also be at the mount/dismount area at the bike start. The runner will then enter the transition area and exit through the run exit. The runner is the only team member who will be required to wear a bib number.
