STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

AMBER HESSE

How did you find out about the CEL?
I first found out about the CEL through my work study supervisor. I also attended the presentation in the dorms to learn more about it.

What resources do you think will be most helpful to you as a first year?
I feel that the knowledge of the staff regarding where to begin in the process of searching for a summer internship will be very helpful. The aid in helping to perfect my resume will probably be helpful as well.

Which resources have you used so far, and what do you plan on using next?
I have already consulted with the CEL staff regarding the multitude of possibilities for both summer internships and work. I have also drafted a resume and had that edited by a CEL staff member. In the future, I hope to utilize the Online Alumni Directory to aid me in my search for a summer research internship.

RESOURCE OF THE WEEK

DELAYING THE REAL WORLD

How many times have you been asked, "what your plans are after graduation?" If this question causes you to clam up or break into cold sweats, this book will calm your nerves, inspire you, and broaden your understanding of your options after leaving the hill. I highly recommend this book for anyone who doesn't want to jump into an office cubicle, has asperations of changing the world, or wants to go on an adventure (without going broke). Check it out at the CEL library or visit the Delaying the Real World Web site.
