INTERNSHIPS
The Southern Theater is seeking an intern in marketing & public relations, beginning
immediately. The marketing and public relations support works closely with the director of marketing and communications, assisting in media relations, theater promotions, production of marketing materials, website maintenance, among other duties. Application Deadline: February 20, 2009— Students returning to campus for 2009 Fall Semester are eligible to apply for The Johnson Social Innovation Internship program, which offers two St. Olaf students the opportunity to design and develop innovative and resourceful approaches to addressing social problems in the Twin Cities area. The program runs from June 1- August 31 and there is a $5,000 stipend and tuition scholarship offered. Application Deadline: Friday, February 27— Coca-Cola is offering summer internships in Atlanta at the Company’s Worldwide Public Affairs and Communications function, with interns reporting to Corporate Communications and Media Relations, Internal Communications and Government Relations. The role as an intern will introduce broad exposure to the issues and opportunities global consumer goods companies face including corporate social responsibility, stakeholders engagement, corporate/NGO strategy, environment, diversity, health & wellness and global aging. Work closely on project teams responsible for producing analytical output contributing to project goals. All applicants should have strong quantitative and analytical skills, familiarity of business strategy, strong written and oral communication abilities, and computer literacy. Application Deadline: Monday, March 2— This experience has been rated by “The Princeton Review” as one of the top ten internships in the nation. Breakthrough Saint Paul is looking for a diverse group of students to teach in an innovative social program for high-potential, low-income middle school students. The program offers the ability to create and teach your own courses with the support of an experienced teacher, an opportunity to work with a diverse faculty and students from around the country, and leadership opportunities through special events, field trips and committees. A stipend will be provided to offset housing costs, although limited free home stays are available for out-of-town teachers. Contact Jennifer Otremba with any questions you may have.
Application Deadline: Monday, March 2 — This full-time, 10-week internships offers a variety of projects through the University of Minnesota. Work with faculty members and their research groups on projects in high-performance computer environments to address science and engineering projects that otherwise could not be attempted. Work will include all aspects of high-performance computing, scientific modeling and simulation, graphics, visualization, informatics, and high-performance network communications. The program is a challenging and enriching educational experience for those interested in pursuing graduate or professional education. Application Deadline: March 15— Interfaith Worker Justice invites students to spend the summer exploring the connection of faith and social justice while participating in the worker justice movement through the Interfaith Worker Justice Summer Internship. Participants will be placed at interfaith worker justice committees or workers' centers for eight weeks of hands-on service, community organizing, and social justice advocacy. The program begins June 8 in New Orleans for a week of training and orientation in conjunction with the IWJ National Conference, after which interns will depart to their placement sites. Geographic preferences are respected in assigning sites and students are encouraged to work locally to explore issues of worker justice within their own community. Application Deadline: March 13— R&D Systems is offering 13 paid internship positions in a variety of areas designed to give students a means to apply the techniques learned in coursework and lab while obtaining new skills! There are two operating divisions: Biotechnology, which manufactures reagents primarily for the research market, and Hematology, which manufactures controls and calibrators for hematology analyzers. This position in Portland, Oregon allows organizers to strategically organize and implement grassroots strategies and campaigns to combat climate change and energy policy. Responsibilities include: developing and implementing an outreach plan in each congressional district, support organizers in event planning, work with partner organizations to cross-promote programs, maintain online presence on social networks and blogs, and build relationships with hundreds of volunteer organizers. Application Deadline: Sunday, March 1 — Work in Minneapolis serving as a liaison between ceding companies and reinsurers. Job duties include: understanding and verifying that claims/accounting information submitted by ceding companies with terms and conditions, provide assistance to sales teams, advise team managers of any potential claims issues, manage collections of funds and outstanding issues between ceding companies and reinsurers until resolution, and evaluate potential unauthorized reinsurance penalties. Application Deadline: April 1, 2009— Want funds for overseas study post-graduation? The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship provides for study abroad in one of the 162 countries where Rotary clubs are located and is designed to further international understanding and goodwill. Some 1,200 scholarships will be available from Rotary Clubs worldwide. This scholarship is worth up to $23,000. The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship is one-year in length. Applicants must be available for interviews in Northfield on April 6-7 and must be available for district interviews on Saturday, April 25, 2009. These awards are for the 2010-2011 academic year.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

students to contribute to the local community and to develop leadership skills necessary to foster social change. Current St. Olaf sophomores and juniors are invited to attend the information sessions for the Leaders for Social Change summer internship program that runs from June 6 through August 8 in Northfield. There is a $2100 stipend, plus a room and board and tuition scholarship for an academic internship. Please see Leaders for Social Change Web site for more information.
