INTERNSHIPS
Application Deadline: Sunday, March 15— Spend the summer in New Orleans as a Catholic Social Teaching/Interfaith Worker Justice (IWJ) Intern, a collaborative project of IWJ, colleges and universities, and the community. Begin on June 8, with an intense week of training with social justice workers and theologians, wrapped up with participation in IWJ’s national conference. Spend 8 weeks witnessing struggles for justice in the workplace and working with interfaith communities facing issues with workers rights, health benefits, immigrant worker issues, living wage campaigns, and local organizing campaigns. Interns will develop skills in coalition building, advocacy, public policy, social analysis and communications. Application Deadline: Sunday, May 31— Located in Blaine, Minnesota this internship will assist in organizing major sporting events sponsored by the NSC and MASC. Events include: the SCHWAN'S USA CUP soccer tournament, US Lacrosse events, USA Rugby events, Star of the North Games, and NSC Football Classic. As an intern, your responsibilities include registration, volunteer services, housing, transportation, officials, activities, logistics, results/media, publications, special events, sponsorships, marketing, competition/programming and ticketing. Application Deadline: Sunday, May 31— Looking to live in Minneapolis for the summer? Work in the snack sales division of the Kellogg Company. This position will offer insight into both corporate and regional organization. As an intern, you will execute initiative by making on-site visits to stores, ensure customers and set up for successful sales of Kellogg Snacks, develop a business model with managers, and create a log to be presented in front a Sales Leadership team. Training sessions will be provided to enhance sales skills. Must have a vehicle and access to a computer. Some overnight traveling will be required. CAREERS
Application Deadline: Friday, March 6— Interested in broadcasting or production? If you have a constant craving for news information, Twins games and pop culture, this position with KSTP-AM could be for you. Must have previous experience operating a broadcasting console, an operating automation system and audio editing software. Duties include partnering with on-air personalities to create a program drawing from a variety of information sources, assist with selection, preparation and clarification of program, and adding music and sound effects to maximize entertainment value. Application Deadline: Sunday, May 3— Work in Omaha, Nebraska with the National Indemnity Company, an insurance company owned by Berkshire Hathaway Inc. This entry-level position will provide technical support for financial and regulatory reporting. Job duties include developing, modifying and maintaining personal computer programs for financial accounting. Database maintenance and analysis is also required. Applicants should have knowledge of personal computer software and good communication skills. Computer science and mathematics majors are encouraged to apply. Application Deadline: Sunday, May 31— Want to work with a network of teachers making a critical impact and committed to helping students with great needs? The Phoenix Teaching Fellows program is looking for college graduates of diverse backgrounds to change the lives of students in Phoenix, Arizona. Coursework in education is not required, as you will train and earn your teaching certificate in the program. While teaching full time in a high-needs classroom, fellows will earn their Master of Education. An AmeriCorps Education award will be given to help pay for Master’s coursework or paying student loans. Teaching areas for fellows include: math, science, language arts, elementary education and special education. February 19, 12:00 pm, Library Athenaeum, Carleton College— Delphine Barringer, a staff member for Doctors Without Borders, managed Human Resources in Sudan for the group's ongoing efforts in Darfur. She also spent several months in Haiti. She will share information about her experiences and give a general overview of Doctors Without Borders.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Application Deadline: April 1, 2009— Want funds for overseas study post-graduation? The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship provides for study abroad in one of the 162 countries where Rotary clubs are located and is designed to further international understanding and goodwill. Some 1,200 scholarships will be available from Rotary Clubs worldwide. This scholarship is worth up to $23,000. The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship is one-year in length. Applicants must be available for interviews in Northfield on April 6-7 and must be available for district interviews on Saturday, April 25, 2009. These awards are for the 2010-2011 academic year.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
Application Deadline: Sunday, March 15 — Spend a year involved in service through the Lilly Grant’s Lives of Worth and Service Program. This position is intended for a 2008 or 2009 graduate to explore career options, while engaged in a year of service modeled on the Americorps and Lutheran Volunteer Corps programs. Learning and gain insight in the non-profit sector while participating in civic engagement and vocal discernment programs, local community organizations, and St. Olaf academic offices. The Lilly Vocational Intern will work under the direction of the Lilly Grant Program Director and be absorbed in the Center for Experiential Learning. "Along with the onset of spring is a whole lot of interviews for summer internships, post-graduate jobs and graduate schools! The CEL has tons of great resources to help you feel confident and prepared. First of all, check out Interview Stream ) which lets you practice interview with a webcam anywhere on campus. There are specific question sets tailored to various fields including corporate jobs, non-profits, and medical schools. Then you can critique your own interview on your computer before anyone else can see it. Once you're comfortable with your interview, you can schedule an appointment to talk about it with CEL professional staff and ask any further questions about interviews. The CEL Peer Advisors are also always available from 9-5 for walk-ins if you have basic questions or concerns about interviewing, as well as helping you to find more paper and online resources. Be sure to take advantage of all the fabulous practice opportunities and you'll be sure to ace your interview!"
