SIRI SCHWEIGERT
PURSUING INTERESTS THROUGH INTERNSHIPS
Tell us about the first time you thought about doing an internship. What kind of experience did you decide on and how did that influence your thinking about your career goals?
The first time that I started thinking about an internship was when I was a sophomore here. I knew that I was interested in doing experiential learning with psychology especially with guidance counseling and learning more about eating disorder treatments. I decided to apply to do internships involving both and I was fortunate to gain experience with each of them. These increased my interests in both areas, and I will continue my education in one of these fields.
Have you pursued other internships or opportunities?
I have continued to keep in contact with the guidance office in Northfield and I will intern this next summer at the Eating Disorders Institute. I plan on taking a year off to gain more work experience and then I will start grad school.
How has the CEL helped you along the way?
The CEL has been extremely helpful with improving my resume and expanding my job search options. Over the last couple of years, I have had help numerous times from both CEL peer advisors and staff, especially Megan Rivera. They have all been extremely helpful with everything and have been an excellent resource for me in my time here at Olaf.
