What is the venture that you are working on?
I own a marketing business, Modica Marketing. We work with individuals and businesses that need any form of marketing done. This ranges from marketing materials, such as brochures and business cards to websites and promotion through the internet. We also do marketing strategy and work with businesses to align their strategy in terms of marketing.
What is the best part about running your own venture?
I love being my own boss and helping people to realize the potential of their business ideas.
What are the challenges?
Understanding how to allocate responsibilities in the manner that is most effective.
What advice would you give to anyone considering applying for a grant?
Make sure that you are passionate about the idea. If you aren't, you will falter early.
How do you see this experience being useful in your life after college?
I want to run my own business someday anyway, so this is a nice gateway to understanding how to do that properly.
