St. Olaf
St. Olaf College Alumni and Parent Relations

Dear Alumni:

On May 24th, some 700 students will graduate from St. Olaf in the Class of 2009. About 33% of them are headed for graduate and professional school, while another 8% will choose to spend a year or more serving organizations such as the Peace Corps, Lutheran Volunteer Corps, or Teach for America. But most of the newly-minted Oles, about 60% of the class, will be looking for jobs. They will face the challenge of a contracting national economy and, thus, diminished opportunities for employment. I am writing to solicit your assistance in providing an Ole the breakthrough that will launch him or her into the world of work.

If you have a job opening or an internship opportunity at your place of work, or you know of an opportunity at another workplace, St. Olaf’s Center for Experiential Learning (CEL), specifically its career services and internship programs, can bring those opportunities before our students. To help us accomplish that, simply link to the 2009 Alumni Initiative website.

Oles have a long history of helping one another, and now more than ever contacts and networking are keys to finding employment. Please accept, in advance, my heartfelt thanks for anything you can do to build a bridge from the Hill to the world of work for members of this graduating class. These are students with a first-rate liberal arts education and a passion for leading lives of worth and service. We need them in our small businesses, our corporations, and our non-profits, and they in turn need an opportunity to put their St. Olaf education to work.

Sincerely,

David R. Anderson ‘74
President
