Employee of the month
(from www.jokepages.com)
These individual quotes were reportedly taken from actual employee performance evaluations in a large US Corporation.
(1) "Since my last report, this employee has reached rock bottom ... and has started to dig."
(2) "This employee is really not so much of a 'has-been', but more of a definite 'won't be'."
(3) "Works well when under constant supervision and cornered like a rat in a trap."
(4) "He would be out of his depth in a parking lot puddle."
(5) "This young lady has delusions of adequacy."
(6) "He sets low personal standards and then consistently fails to achieve them."
(7) "This employee is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot."
(8) "This employee should go far ... and the sooner he starts, the better."
(9) "He certainly takes a long time to make his pointless."
(10) "He would argue with a signpost."
(11) "He has a knack for making strangers immediately detest him."
(12) "If you see two people talking and one looks bored ... he's the other one."
(13) "Donated his brain to science before he was done using it."
(14) "Gates are down, the lights are flashing, but the train isn't coming."
(15) "If you give him a penny for his thoughts, you'd get change."
The CEL encourages you to become a good employee, and not end up on this list. Come to our workshops and find out how! |
Student Spotlight

Mark Johnson, Finstad Grant Recipient
Reminder: Final grant deadline for 2007-08 is Friday, February 16th!
Why did you decide to apply for a Finstad Grant?
I had painted the previous summer and realized that with a little start-up money I could have a viable painting business of my own. As a sophomore I was also looking for experience and ways that I could build out my resume. Employers love to see this and it gives me great things to talk about in interviews.
What is the venture that you are working on?
I started an exterior painting business. We do anything from painting houses to sealing decks and staining fences.
What is the best part about running your own venture?
I got the experience and knowledge about business start up that I plan to do again sometime in the future. Not having a boss and working your own hours was pretty nice too.
What are the challenges?
Lining up steady jobs, consistently providing excellent customer service, addressing on-site problems (paint spills), working with other contractors, taxes, payroll, etc.
What advice would you give to anyone considering applying for a grant?
Go for it! You will get a great experience and an opportunity to start making some money on your own.
How do you see this experience being useful in your life after college?
I would definitely like to start a new venture of my own again sometime in the future. It's also helpful in proving to employers that I'm a driven and motivated student. |
