RESOURCES FOR PARENTS AND FAMILIES
The college years are exciting and challenging years, a time in which young adults develop an identity and choose a life plan. Parents remain a critical influence in the developmental tasks of the young adult. There are many ways that you can help your son or daughter in choosing a major, identifying experiential learning opportunities and vocational direction, and preparing to move out of the college world.
To be competitive for graduate education or employment, it is necessary to supplement a liberal arts education with experiential learning that complements the academic program. You can encourage your son or daughter to include experiential learning in the St. Olaf years by using the Experiential Learning Checklist as a guide.
The Center for Experiential Learning (CEL) welcomes parents as partners in the vocational discernment process of our students and encourages you to call with any questions or concerns.
