Humanities and the Arts

Each year, The Lilly Graduate Fellows Program selects a cohort of sixteen Fellows who are entering graduate school.  Over a three year period, these Fellows, along with two mentors who are senior scholars, communicate and collaborate with each other in areas of research, teaching, and professional development.  During their years in graduate school the fellowship recipients receive an annual award of $3,000/year for three years and have the opportunity to attend special conferences and participate in a mentoring program.

Applicants must enroll in graduate study in the humanities or arts.  The program is designed to encourage aspiring academicians who desire to explore the connections between Christianity and the vocation of teacher-scholar OR who want to teach at church-related colleges and universities.

The internal review process is simple--a short interview.  Once nominated by St. Olaf, students will apply directly to the Lilly Fellows Program.  Final selections are made by that program.

The 2010 nominees are Maren Gelle ’10, Elisabeth Granquist ’10 and Jacob Zillhardt ’10.
