THE WALLACE J. ESTENSON ENTREPRENEURIAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Description

The Wallace J. Estenson Entrepreneurial Internship program, founded by Mark Johnson '82, is a unique program offered exclusively to St. Olaf students interested in gaining exposure to the theory and practice of being entrepreneurial. Students who participate in the summer program gain an orientation to the entrepreneurial process of nurturing ideas, articulating a vision, and building a business strategy. Estenson Interns work in businesses owned, managed, or supervised by St. Olaf College alumni with a deep appreciation for the program. This provides the students with a real-world opportunity to begin developing their own "network" of St. Olaf alumni. The internships offer competitive wages, and run from approximately June 1 through August 31st. The program is named for Mark's father-in-law, Wallace J. Estenson '41, and also honors Mark's own father, Paul D. Johnson '54. These two alumni encouraged Mark to take risks and develop his own business ideas.
