TreeTRANSFORMING PRIVILEGE: IDEALS TO ACTION

A Reflective Retreat
October 17–18, 2009

What:
The third annual Transforming Privilege Retreat, a two-day opportunity to reflect on the many faces of privilege that we encounter in our lives as students, activists, and community members, and the ways we can transform privilege into action for social change.  We will move from exploring our identities and privileges on a personal level to the exploration of privilege on broader levels, and will look at concrete ways to build solidarity and make change.  Personal reflection, group work, journaling, and art, are all vehicles through which we can work on the retreat.  Facilitator: Devyani Chandran - Assistant Professor of Social Work and Family Studies

Where:
At Good Earth Village, an environmental retreat center located south of Rochester.
Transportation, food and lodging provided (there is no cost)

When:
The morning of Saturday, October 17 until the evening of Sunday, October 18.  We'll leave from campus at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and return by 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Note: all participants must travel to and from the retreat as a group.
