Public Relations/Advertising Intern

In this position, you will be working closely with a team of PR/advertising interns & the Creative Director to strengthen the position of Alive Magazine in the market.

The position assists in facilitating press coverage, creating and sustaining strategic partnerships, developing strong ad campaigns, and soliciting ad sales from like-minded businesses. This includes collaboration with Artistic Director & graphic design interns for brand consistency & artistic cohesion.

The position will gain knowledge & expertise on pricing structures for both web & print advertising, the development of advertising campaigns, internet publishing, and media relations.

This is a tremendous opportunity for an individual to gain experience in a fast-paced, hard working environment and have exposure to a wide array of entrepreneurial marketing assignments.

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Creative Director, this position will:

  • Write press releases and develop ad campaigns for various media outlets, including web, newspaper, radio, and magazine.
  • Create press kits, brochures, forms, and other promotional marketing materials
  • Research, present and implement potential marketing avenues to promote magazine
  • Research contact information and data of new leads and prospects for advertising, press, and partnerships

Evaluation Expectations
Intern will complete individual goal worksheet at the beginning of term, which will be used in conjunction with position description by supervisor throughout the semester. Intern will be evaluated on performance once a month in one-on-one meetings with supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree, preferably in Advertising or Communications-related field.
  • Creative thinker & ability to demonstrate initiative
  • Responsible communication methods concerning phone & email
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be well organized, detail orientated and able to prioritize tasks and work efficiently
  • Interest and understanding of women's media issues

Compensation
This is an unpaid internship.
