Federated Insurance Leadership Scholarships
Federated Insurance, Owatonna, MN has made a gift to St. Olaf College that will allow the awarding of two $1,000 scholarships for each academic year. Federated prides themselves on EQUITY, TEAMWORK, INTEGRITY AND RESPECT. These are the demonstrated skills they will look for in the applicants.

Melvin George Leadership/Service Summer Fellowship
Named for St. Olaf College President Emeritus Melvin George, this award is intended to support activities that encourage and develop leadership skills and commitments of service among students. The award is directed toward students who would be otherwise unable to engage in service activities during the summer.
Deadline: April 1st, 08

Kloeck-Jenson Scholarship for Peace & Justice Internships
The Kloeck-Jenson Scholarship provides funding to support students pursuing an internship related to peace and justice issues. Typically the internship occurs during interim or the summer.

Lilly Vocational Internships
The Lilly Summer Vocational Community Internship provides funds and an opportunity for students to serve in a congregation or service organization in the Twin Cities area while staying at Luther Seminary.

David Minge Endowment for Peace & Justice Internships/Academic Programs in Washington D.C.
The David Minge Endowment helps defray costs for St. Olaf College sponsored academic programs or academic credit internships in Washington D.C. The program is specifically focused on peace and justice issues and is available for semester, interim, and summer experiences.

Joy Korda Schaefer Scholarship for Summer Experiential Learning
Named for Joy Korda Schaefer, who during her life demonstrated a desire to learn by doing, the scholarship is given to student(s) participating in off-campus experiential learning opportunities that contribute to their search for meaning in life and learning.
Deadline: April 1st, 08

Sidney Rand Scholarship
The Rand Scholarship is designed to foster and support undergraduate research in the life and culture of Norway. The scholarship is offered to a Saint Olaf student who presents the best proposal for a 300-level independent research course focusing on some aspect of Norwegian life.

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program pays tribute to the leadership, courage, and vision of Senator Goldwater and establishes in his name an endowed recognition program to foster and encourage excellence in science and mathematics. The purpose of the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation is to alleviate a critical current and future shortage of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. A more realistic statement of the purpose, in today's terms, is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified individuals to those fields of academic study and research.

Campus Compact Student Honors - Minnesota
Minnesota Campus Compact announces three opportunities to recognize students for their exemplary civic leadership and community service while also providing financial support toward continued efforts. A statewide committee will select both the grant recipients and the Newman/Swearer state finalists from Minnesota. State Finalists will be presented at the Annual Meeting on June 2nd, 2008, and National Award Recipients will be determined by May 2, 2008. 
Applications Due: Friday, March 21, 2008.  

Phillips Scholars Program
The Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation supports programs that provide solutions in the areas of self-sufficiency, family strengthening, health care, education, independent living for people with disabilities and the elderly, good relations among people of all races and religions, and art as a vehicle to address social issues. The Phillips Scholars Program supports potential leaders with outstanding academic credentials who intend to dedicate a portion of their lives to community service. Six competitively-selected Phillips Scholars are eligible to receive $14,000: a $5,000 junior-year scholarship; a $4,000 summer award to support the development and implementation of a self-designed service project to address unmet needs in Minnesota communities; and a $5,000 senior year scholarship contingent on the successful completion of the summer project.

Urban Education Summer Scholars Program
The UESS Program was developed to increase the number of teachers of color in the St. Paul and Minneapolis urban schools. Scholarships are awarded to students of color who are committed to pursuing a teaching career in a Twin Cities urban school, with a preference for students who want to teach in St. Paul . Scholarship recipients participate in a service learning experience, provided by the  St. Paul Public Schools and the Hamline University Center in Excellence in Urban Teaching, which focuses on building urban teaching skills. The program is administered by the Minnesota Private College Fund and is funded by St. Paul Travelers.
