- David Minge Scholarship for Peace & Justice Internships/Academic Programs in Washington D.C.
Named for David Minge ’64, this award helps defray costs for St. Olaf College sponsored academic programs or academic credit internships in Washington D.C. Students are encouraged to engage in activity that will allow them to learn about issues of peace and justice and to participate in the political process.

- Bruce R. Dalgaard & Carol L. Korda (Dalgaard/Korda) Scholarship for Vocational Internships
Instituted for Carol Korda's sister, Joy Korda Schaefer, who during her life demonstrated a desire to learn by doing, the scholarship is given to a student participating in an academic internship that contributes to their search for meaning in life and learning. More specifically, students are encouraged to engaged in activity that will promote vocational growth.

- Kloeck-Jenson Scholarship for Peace & Justice Internships
Created to honor the memory of Scott Kloeck-Jenson, his wife Barbara, and their two children, Zoe and Noah, this award provides funding to support students pursuing an academic internship related to peace and justice issues. More specifically, students are encouraged to engage in activity that addresses the causes and impact of economic, political and social injustice and violence.

- Melvin George Scholarship for Service & Leadership Internships
Named for St. Olaf College President Emeritus Melvin George, this award is intended to support activities that encourage and develop leadership skills and commitments of service among students. The award provides financial support for student(s) who would otherwise be unable to engage in leadership service during the summer months. The award encourages applicants to develop an idea for service work in church, government, business or community that addresses some societal need.

Federated Insurance Leadership Scholarships
Federated Insurance, Owatonna, MN has made a gift to St. Olaf College that will allow the awarding of two $1,000 scholarships for each academic year. Federated prides themselves on EQUITY, TEAMWORK, INTEGRITY AND RESPECT. These are the demonstrated skills they will look for in the applicants.

Ken Olsen Internship Grant for Sociology/Anthropology students
Awarded to students whose interests lie with issues of racial justice and the inclusion of Native Americans on the St. Olaf College campus.

Sidney Rand Scholarship
The Rand Scholarship is designed to foster and support undergraduate research in the life and culture of Norway. The scholarship is offered to a Saint Olaf student who presents the best proposal for a 300-level independent research course focusing on some aspect of Norwegian life.
Volunteer Network Service Grant
The grant is designed to support projects that are initiated and led by students. Eligible projects may be action or education based. "Action" may take the form of service to the Northfield community, community building between St. Olaf College and Northfield, or volunteer/activism opportunities for St. Olaf students, on campus or abroad.
Deadline: Funds will be distributed on a rolling basis until depleted every year.
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program pays tribute to the leadership, courage, and vision of Senator Goldwater and establishes in his name an endowed recognition program to foster and encourage excellence in science and mathematics. The purpose of the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation is to alleviate a critical current and future shortage of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. A more realistic statement of the purpose, in today's terms, is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified individuals to those fields of academic study and research. **A student can inquire about this opportunity, but must be nominated by the college. The Frank Newman Leadership Award
The Frank Newman Leadership Award provides financial support and mentorship to assist students achieve their civic and academic goals. Two $5,000 awards are available to undergraduate students at Campus Compact member colleges and universities.

Morris K. Udall Scholarship
In 2009, the Foundation expects to award 80 scholarships and 50 honorable mentions on the basis of merit to sophomore and junior level college students. The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics. **A student can inquire about this opportunity, but must be nominated by the college. Phillips Scholars Program
The Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation supports programs that provide solutions in the areas of self-sufficiency, family strengthening, health care, education, independent living for people with disabilities and the elderly, good relations among people of all races and religions, and art as a vehicle to address social issues. The Phillips Scholars Program supports potential leaders with outstanding academic credentials who intend to dedicate a portion of their lives to community service. Six competitively-selected Phillips Scholars are eligible to receive $14,000: a $5,000 junior-year scholarship; a $4,000 summer award to support the development and implementation of a self-designed service project to address unmet needs in Minnesota communities; and a $5,000 senior year scholarship contingent on the successful completion of the summer project.

Students Serve is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides serviceships to college students. They offer grants of up to $1000 to college students to implement service projects that improve communities.

Urban Education Summer Scholars Program
The UESS Program was developed to increase the number of teachers of color in the St. Paul and Minneapolis urban schools. Scholarships are awarded to students of color who are committed to pursuing a teaching career in a Twin Cities urban school, with a preference for students who want to teach in St. Paul . Scholarship recipients participate in a service learning experience, provided by the St. Paul Public Schools and the Hamline University Center in Excellence in Urban Teaching, which focuses on building urban teaching skills. The program is administered by the Minnesota Private College Fund and is funded by St. Paul Travelers.
