Study Abroad Financing Options
Studying off-campus is an investment in your future. It requires advance planning, careful management, creativity and perseverance, but the personal, academic and professional rewards will last a lifetime.
St. Olaf College allows financial aid and scholarships to be used to finance off-campus programs. Each St. Olaf program costs no less than the St. Olaf Comprehensive Fee. In addition, each has a program fee. You may revise your financial aid request to reflect the total cost of the off-campus program. For semester and year-long programs, please report the additional expense on the Returning Student Application for Financial Aid form. If you are planning an interim trip abroad, please report your extra expense to the Financial Aid Office.
It is our hope that anyone who wants to participate in an off-campus study experience will be able to do so. Please contact Helen Stellmaker (stellmak@stolaf.edu) if you need further assistance with anything you see on this page.
Loans
A wide variety of loans are available for study abroad opportunities. You must inform the Financial Aid Office of the increase in your school costs in order to be eligible for these loans. These loans include:
To apply for an interim loan, print off the Interim Loan form and return it to our office. Or, stop by the Financial Aid Office to complete the form.
