Applying for Returning Student Financial Aid

The most important thing for returning students to remember is that you must re-apply for financial aid each year you attend St. Olaf. If you meet the April 15, 2008 financial aid priority deadline, you can expect to receive your 2008-2009 aid award via e-mail notification in June, 2008.

To apply for Financial Aid you will need to complete 2 things:

  1. St. Olaf Financial Aid Application
  2. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Note: You do NOT need to complete the CSS Profile after your first year at St. Olaf College. Also, do not send us copies of your or your parents' federal tax returns unless we request them from you.

Filing for Financial Aid

  • STEP 1: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • You must complete a FAFSA every year you wish to be considered for need-based aid. For more information on the FAFSA, and how to complete the form click here. You can complete the FAFSA using a paper based form available from the Office of Financial Aid or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov

The FAFSA cannot be completed prior to January 1 of the year you are applying for financial aid. For St. Olaf to receive your results, you will need to include St. Olaf's FAFSA Code: 002382

  • STEP 2: Complete and Submit Your St. Olaf Application for Financial Aid

  • Each year a reminder postcard will be sent to your home address and to your student email to inform you to complete a St. Olaf Financial Aid Application online at: stolaf.edu/services/financialaid/forms.htm . If you prefer, you may print this form and mail it to the Financial Aid Office, 1520 St. Olfaf Avenue, Northfield, MN 55057.

You must complete this form and return it to the Financial Aid Office to be considered for student aid. We will use this information, along with the information on your FAFSA to determine your need. Priority Deadline for receipt of the Application for Financial Aid is April 15, 2008.
