My Financial Aid Package

The St. Olaf College Financial Aid Committee has reviewed your application for financial aid. The financial aid award we are able to offer you can be viewed using Financial Aid Online, which is linked at the bottom of this page. Using Financial Aid Online allows you to: view your award (once you have been notified by our office that your award is available to view), accept, decline, or adjust the individual components of your award. You can also use Financial Aid Online to view the documents that the Office of Financial Aid has received, not received, waived or are incomplete and access forms that you may need to complete in order for us to be able to generate an award for you.

By accepting your award you are indicating that you understand scholarships, grants and loans will be disbursed directly as credits to your Comprehensive Fee account. You also authorize the St. Olaf College Financial Aid Office to certify your Federal Stafford or Direct Loans. If you would like a different amount certified, please make the appropriate changes to your online award. Your acceptance also indicates that you have read and understand the terms and conditions of your award provided on this website. (Terms and Conditions)

The following are some changes and special situations you may need to be aware of as you review your financial aid package:

Study Abroad: Semester programs: If you requested financial aid to assist in covering costs for a semester program, the program fee will not be reflected on Financial Aid Online. To view the adjustments to your cost of attendance, please refer to your billing statement. The room and board compenent of your costs have been adjusted to reflect the time you will be away from St. Olaf College. If you plan to study abroad on a semester program, and there are no Study Abroad expenses listed in your cost of attendance, then contact our office so we can reconsider your award.

Interim programs: At this time, we may or may not have considered your eligibility for financial aid for an Interim program depending on whether you have submitted an Interim loan request form. Please check your billing statement cost of attendance to determine if we have included aid for your interim costs. If you are unsure, please contact our office.

Student Work Wages: The student wage rate for first year and sophomore students is $7.40 per hour. Junior and senior students will earn $7.65. Students returning to positions where they worked previously may be paid $7.65 per hour. If your student work amount is too large for the number of hours you expect to work, let us know so we may review your loan eligibility for a possible increase.

Room and Board Expenses for Students Who Live Off-Campus: Your award letter includes an allowance for room and board of $8,200. Credits for room and/or board will be reflected on your bill.

Federal Stafford and Direct Loan Application Process: If you completed a Master Promissory Note to receive your Stafford Loan last year, you will not need to complete a Stafford Loan application this year. Simply accept your award online, and we will approve a Stafford Loan for the amount you have accepted on your award. You must accept your award online, or we cannot approve your loan!

If you did not use a Master Promissory Note to apply for a loan last year, or if this is the first time you have applied for a Federal Loan, you can apply for a Federal Direct Loan by completing an MPN and Entrance Counseling online accessible through our Loans Website.

Award Changes for 2009-2010: If your St. Olaf Scholarship/Grant and/or federal and state aid has decreased from 2008-2009, a reason for the decrease will be given on the online award. There are a number of circumstances that may have affected your eligibility (e.g., reductions in family size or number in college and increases in parental income).

As always, if you have any questions or concerns that you need clarified, please contact our office at 877-235-8386 or locally at 507-786-3019 or by email at finaid@stolaf.edu.
