GEAR UP PARTICIPANTS:
GEAR UP serves over 850 students at Humboldt Secondary School and Harding High School.

COMMUNITY PARTNERS:
GEAR UP is unique from other programs because it employs community partners committed to serving and accelerating the academic achievement of GEAR UP participants. Listed below are the St. Olaf GEAR UP Partners and a brief explanation of how they assist and contribute to the program.

  • Century College Preparing to Achieve a College Education (PACE) a program at Century College Access and Opportunity Center that offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take free college courses and earn college credits.
  • East and West Side Boys and Girls Club provides additional support outside of the school day such as mentoring, tutoring, and self-esteem building. GEAR UP and Boys and Girls Club partner to provide workshops for student and families at both the Club and at the target schools.
  • Great Lakes Higher Education work with schools, lenders, and community organizations to help millions of people pay for college and build brighter futures.
  • Humboldt Secondary School provides office space, classroom access, teacher support, time to plan parent workshops, and assistance with teacher in-services.
  • Harding Senior High School provides office space, classroom access, teacher support, time to plan parent workshops, and assistance with teacher in-services.
  • Inver Hills Preparing to Achieve a College Education (PACE) a program at Inver Hills Access and Opportunity Center for Excellence that offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take free college courses and earn college credits.
  • Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest provides hands-on, experiential programs that teach the key concepts of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
  • Minnesota Office of Higher Education provides parent nights, career and financial aid events, scholarships for summer academic enrichment programs, and college planning publications.
  • MITY (Minnesota Institute for Talented Youth) provides assistance with applications and scholarships for their summer academic enrichment program and hosts a Macalester College visit for potential MITY students.
  • MN YouthCARE-Camp Sunrise provides a one week wilderness summer camp for students from the Twin Cities.
  • St. Olaf College provides faculty time for teacher in-services, office space, computers, software and professional development funds.
