Welcome to Human Resources Newsletter
October 2009
Please join us in welcoming the newest member of the Human Resources Department:
Jessica Smisek, Administrative Assistant
Jessica is a recent graduate of South Central College in Faribault where she obtained her Administrative
Assistant, AAS degree. She comes to us with previous administrative office experience from various companies in the surrounding area.
She has enjoyed her first couple of weeks here and is very excited to be a part of the St. Olaf community.
Medical Reimbursement for 2008-2009
Employees have until October 31, 2009 to submit claims for the 2008-2009 Medical Reimbursement plan. This means that money set aside beginning September 2008 can still be accessed for claims through the end of this month. Claims for 2008-2009 expenses must be filed with Select Account by November 30, 2009. Claims that have been submitted since 9/1/2009 will be applied against the 2008-2009 balance first, if there is one. When the account is exhausted, it will apply claims to the 2009-2010 account. Unused funds for the 2008-2009 plan year will be forfeited. Give us a call at 3068 if you have questions about this new feature.
Walk Yah! Yah! Fall 2009
September 28 through November 22
The Fall Walk Yah! Yah! program is well underway. Remember to record your steps on a regular basis! Many spare pedometer parts are available from returned pedometers. If you need a spare part, contact Pat Anfinson at x3032.
If you would like more information, click HERE for the Walk Yah! Yah! web site!
For those of you who missed the Flu Shot Clinic that was held at the College last month, you can still get them at your clinic, assuming that they still have a supply of the vaccine. If you are covered under Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota through the College, these shots fall under the preventative care benefit and should be covered. If you are covered under another health insurance plan, call your customer service representative to obtain flu shot coverage and applicable co-pay information.
The government had started to distribute the H1N1 vaccine to various states. Each state then will decide the distribution based upon pre-established criteria. We will continue to monitor the availability of the vaccine and will inform the community when we know something definitive. While we hope to have the H1N1 Flu Shot Clinic on campus, there is not enough information available to know if this will actually happen. If you have an opportunity to obtain this vaccination through your own provider, we recommend that you do so.
