Media Event Technical Assistant

The media event technical assistant will have a working knowledge of campus media equipment. A basic knowledge of sound, video, and lighting is essential. Each technical assistant may need to be able to work evening or weekends.

Duties

  • Assist faculty, staff and students and outside vendors and clients with audio visual needs related questions.
  • Troubleshoot problems in person.
  • Write documentation.
  • Work at campus events.
  • Work with sound, video and lighting equipment owned or rented by the college.
  • Misc. office-related tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding people skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of PCs, Macintoshes, and peripherals along with audio/ visual equipment.
  • Operation of video cameras .
  • Basic knowledge of sound systems (ability to set up and run).
  • Basic knowledge of lighting (design, setup, and board op).
  • Basic knowledge of video editing.
  • Must be able to interact with peers, faculty and staff.
  • Be able to work in teams and alone.
  • Must have basic customer service skills.
  • Able to work 5-10 hours per week.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and ability to think analytically.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Patience.
  • Self starter and able to work without much supervision.
  • Initiative.
