Common Sense Reminders
- Do NOT adjust any item labeled "DO NOT TOUCH"
- When possible, insure the technology works before class time.
- When in doubt, ask.

1. Turning the System On
- Turn the main power for the desk on (red button on top right of desk).
- Turn power on for the projector (green button on remote control located in bottom drawer).
- Turn on power to the Sony receiver.
2. Using the Technology
2.1 To Display Objects or Transparencies with the Elmo Document Camera
- Turn on Elmo Document Camera and push the button labeled DOC CAMERA/MAIN (Monitor Output should stay on MAIN).
- Use remote control and push the Input button until it says "Input A" on top right of large screen.
- Select your preferred lighting: DOC CAMERA/UPPER for objects or standard paper; OVERHEAD/BASE for transparencies.
2.2 To Display Computer on the Projector:
- Turn power on to the computer.
- Push MAC button on Sony receiver (to get sound).
- Use remote control and push the Input 1 button until it says "Input 1" on top right of large screen.
- Use the dial labeled Volume on the Sony receiver to adjust volume level for CDs, DVDs, MP3s, etc. played on the computer.
2.3 Showing a DVD or Listening to an Audio CD
Use the computer to play DVDs or audio CDs.
- Start the computer according to the instructions above.
- Insert the DVD or audio CD into the DVD/CD player.
- The DVD or CD should start playing automatically.
- Use the software controls that appear to stop, play, pause, rewind, or fast forward.
- Use the dial labeled Volume on the Sony receiver to adjust volume level for CDs, DVDs, MP3s, etc. played on the computer.
2.4 To Display VHS Videos on the Projector:
- Push VCR button on Sony receiver.
- Turn on power for Aiwa VCR.
- Use the remote control and push the Input 3 button.
- Insert tape and push Play button on VCR.
- Use the dial labeled Volume on the Sony receiver to adjust volume level for video playback.
2.5 Operating the Laser Disc Player
- Push the Input 3 button on the projector remote.
- Press the Laser Disk button on the Sony receiver to display the picture and sound.
- Use the dial labeled Volume on the Sony receiver to adjust volume level for video playback.
2.6 Projecting a Laptop
- Turn on the ELMO Document Camera on the cart (power switch in the back right corner).
- Use a standard DB-15 monitor cable to connect the back of the laptop (VIDEO OUT) to the back of the document camera (INPUT: RGB 1).
- Plug the Ethernet cable and audio cable on the cart into the laptop.
- On the front of the document camera in the INPUT area, press the RGB 1 button (leave the OUTPUT set to MAIN).
- Turn on the laptop.
- Turn on the projector.
- Push the DOC button on the control panel for the laptop to appear.
3. Turning off Equipment when Finished
- Turn off the Aiwa VCR and the Sony receiver with each of their respective power buttons.
- Turn off computer by going to the Special menu and selecting Shut Down .
- Turn off main power (red switch on the top right of the desk).
- To turn off projector, press the green power button on the remote 2 times. (Once the projector has been turned off, the fan will continue to run two minutes to cool down the bulb. The projector cannot be turned back on during this two minute cool down period.)
