Starting SynchronEyes

  1. Double click on the SynchronEyes Teacher 3.0 icon on the desktop to open SynchronEyes.
  2. Have students double click on SynchronEyes icon on Desktop
  3. Make sure that the Thumbnails tab on the toolbar in upper right screen is selected.
    The student work stations should appear on the screen.
  4. Under the View menu there is the Thumbnail Size option which allows you to change the size of the viewable thumbnails.
  5. The Options menu allows you to select "Allow Students To Disconnect". If this is not selected, only the instructor can disconnect a student. The Options menu also allows you to change the Lock out Message from "Eyes to Front, Please" to whatever you desire.


Viewing the Students Screen

  1. Double click on the thumbnail preview to see the student machine in full screen; this also allows you to take control of their system.
  2. The third button (the broadcast button that has three screens and an arrow) allows you to broadcast the selected screen to everyone in the room. The last button (the pen button) allows you to highlight certain areas of the students screen.
  3. When you are done observing a students machine, click on the "return to thumbnails" button, which is the first button that has 4 blue screens, to return to the thumbnails view.
  4. In the Thumbnail tab there are buttons on the left toolbar which allow access to these same features. To lock out a person (eyes to front) select their screen on the Thumbnails tab and press the Lock button on the left control.


Displaying your Desktop on Student Machines

  1. To broadcast your desktop to all student machines, select the Broadcast button from the left control strip. A prompt will show up asking if you want to project your screen, select yes.
  2. Click on the Desktop tab to view your desktop.
  3. To return to the Thumbnail view and end the broadcast of your screen, click the Thumbnail button (first icon with four blue screens)


Extra Features

  1. Chat
    1. Under the Chat tab, select Enable Chat from the left control bar to allow students to chat.
    2. Have students press the Chat button on their SynchronEyes control bar. If control bar is not visible, double click on SynchronEyes icon in system tray.
    3. To create discussion groups in the class, click the Groups button to make a new group.
    4. Choose a name for the group and click the Edit button
    5. Click on the selected computer names and click the appropriate Arrow button to put that computer (i.e. student) into the group or remove it from the group
  2. Quiz
    1. Select the quiz tab
    2. Click on create
    3. Select destination folder to save the quiz in, and create quiz (enter questions and answers)
  3. Questions (Do not submit a blank question! The SynchronEyes student client will stop responding and the student will have to restart the program.)
    1. For a student to ask a question, click the questions button on the toolbar. The teacher will then see a hand over that persons screen.
    2. Click on the questions button to answer view their question
    3. Either click on the computer name to initiate chat with that person or press clear to clear the question from the window and tell everyone the answer
    4. To clear hands, press the Clear Hands button
  4. Vote. Click the Vote button on the left control strip to ask a yes/no question to the class. Once the student answers there will be either a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down icon over their thumbnail. To clear the hands, click on the Clear Hands button.
