Endnote

EndNote is a multi-purpose reference solution that allows users to search online bibliographic databases, manage a personal library of references, and automatically format citations and bibliographies. EndNote can be installed on college-owned, faculty-owned and student-owned computers.

EndNote uses connection, filter and style files to connect to online databases, filter the information for use within EndNote, and format citations and bibliographies according to specific styles. Because there are many sources of information on the Internet, and many different requirements for formatting citations and bibliographies, St. Olaf maintains a customized set of these files on the network.

For more information about using EndNote, the EndNote manual, in Adobe PDF format, is available at:

  • prime:Apps:EndNote:EndNoteX2 Manual Mac.pdf  (Macintosh OS X)

Versions and Availability

St. Olaf has a site license for EndNote. This allows EndNote to be installed on college-owned computers as well as faculty- and student-owned computers. St. Olaf is currently running EndNote version X2 (12). It is available for both Windows PCs and Macs.

EndNote is available on all college-owned Windows and Macintosh computers. These computers are configured to use the connection, filter and style files on the St. Olaf network.
