Connecting to the Novell Servers from a Macintosh
Using MacOS X:
Options for connection to the servers from OS X:
- Manually connect and/or create aliases for the servers by hand. Instructions for doing so are below.
- Download a set of pre-made aliases (shortcuts) and keep them on your desktop for easy access.
Manually connecting to the servers:
- In the Finder, click the 'Go' menu and select 'Connect to
Server. . .'

- In the text field that says 'Address,' type in the server
name:

- For student home directories, enter 'stuhome.stolaf.edu'
- For faculty and staff home directories, enter 'fshome.stolaf.edu'
- For class folders, enter 'classes.stolaf.edu'
- For shared folders, enter 'shared.stolaf.edu'
- For apps and installers, enter 'prime.stolaf.edu'
- Click 'Connect'.
- Type in your username and password and click 'Connect'

- Select the volume you wish to mount and click 'OK'.

- The server volume will appear on your desktop.

For easy access in the future, you can create an alias for the server volume. Click once on the volume icon and select File -> Make Alias.
You will have an alias on your desktop that you can use to connect.
To connect to the server in the future, double-click on the alias icon. When prompted, enter for your username and password and click OK. The server volume will mount on your desktop.
