Novell Servers at St. Olaf
St. Olaf uses Novell Netware servers to provide much of the network storage space used by students, faculty, and staff. The servers provide everyone with personal storage space, shared spaces used by various groups and departments on campus, application installers, class directories, and more. You can access and use these network spaces just like you would access a CD-ROM or Zip disk.

Backups and Restores
An added benefit of storing your documents in your personal space is that they are backed up regularly. You do not have to worry about corrupted disks or losing files. In many cases, a document that is accidentally deleted can be recovered from backup. If you need a recovery performed, please e-mail root@stolaf.edu informing them of the name of the file/document deleted, when it was deleted and where in your personal space it was located (in the case that you had it buried in a folder).
