Off-Campus File Access: Connecting From Your Home Computer Using Windows XP
- Open ‘My Network Places’ (Start menu -> My Network Places).
- Click on the ‘Add Network Place’ lnk in the left-hand
column of the window.

- The Add Network Place Wizard will start. Click Next.
- Click 'Choose another network location" and then click Next.

- In the box labelled 'Internet or network address, ,
enter:
https://axel.stolaf.edu/oneNet/NetStorage
The field is case-sensitive; enter it exactly as it appears above. Note that it begins with https: and not http:

- Click Next.
- If a security alert appears, click Yes.
- When prompted, enter your username and password. Uncheck the
box ‘Save this password in your password list’. Click
OK.

- Enter a name for this network place, for example, ‘St.
Olaf Files’. Click Next.

- On the next window, click Finish. Your computer will now try to connect to the server to display your files.
- You will get the Security Alert again. Click 'Yes.'
- Enter your St. Olaf username and password and uncheck the box
labelled "Save my information." Then click OK.
- A window will open with listing of your files. You will see
your home directory, the shared directory and the classes directory.

- Your connection to your St. Olaf files will be saved in your ‘My
Network Places’. To access your files at a later time,
simply open My Network Places and double-click on ‘St.
Olaf Files’.
