Integrating St. Olaf College Directory Searching into Thunderbird
Please note that access to the St. Olaf College Directory is available to on-campus computers only. This will not work on computers located off-campus.
- Open Thunderbird and click the "Address Book" icon.
- From the File menu of the Address Book, select New, then LDAP Directory.
- Set Name: to St. Olaf Directory Set Host Name: to ldap.stolaf.edu. Set Base DN: to o=stolaf.edu.
Click OK to accept the changes once they have been made:
- Close the Address Book.
- Open the preferences by selecting Options from the Tools menu.
- From the Heirarchy on the left side of the window, select Composition.
- Enable seaching the St. Olaf Directory by clicking the box next to Directory Server to place a checkmark there.
- From the drop down menu directly below that make sure that St. Olaf Directory is selected.
- Click OK to accept these changes:
To test the directory searching, compose a new e-mail, and start typing the name of a person at St. Olaf into the "To:" field of your e-mail. Thunderbird should automatically complete the name and address of that person for you.
