Setting up a VPN Connection on Macintosh OS X

To configure a VPN connection to the St. Olaf network:

  1. From your Applications folder, open Internet Connect.
  2. Select New VPN Connection Window from the File menu.
  3. A pop-up window will appear asking you to choose which kind of VPN protocol you would like configure. Select PPTP and click Continue.

  4. You will now be presented with a VPN Connection window. Leave Configuration set to Other.
  5. For Server address: enter vpn.stolaf.edu.
  6. For Account Name: enter your username.
  7. For Password: enter your password.
  8. Make sure Show VPN status in menu bar is checked.

  9. Click Connect.
  10. When you are ready to disconnect, click Disconnect.
  11. Select Quit from the File menu.
  12. When prompted, save the VPN connection as "St. Olaf VPN".

 

Using the St. Olaf VPN connection

To connect to the St. Olaf VPN:

  1. Click on the VPN icon in the menu bar (at the top of the screen) and click Connect.

  2. Enter your password and click OK.

To disconnect from the St. Olaf VPN:

  1. Click on the VPN icon in the menu bar (at the top of the screen) and click Disconnect.
