CD’s, DVD’s, Flash Drives, and Other Storage Devices
If a job requires that employees work off-campus and employees will be transporting files on a CD, DVD, flash drive, or other media, employees need to first check to make sure that the data and information does not contain any protected or confidential data. If it does, efforts need to be made to remove this data from the files. If it’s absolutely necessary to take protected data off-campus it must be in an encrypted format. IIT will work with staff members to set up encryption when it is absolutely necessary to bring protected or confidential data and information off-campus.
Notify your supervisor if you lose or have stolen a CD, DVD, flash drive, or other storage device that contains protected data.
