St. Olaf and Carleton Libraries Go Live With Find It!This fall, the St. Olaf and Carleton libraries introduced the Find It! link resolver. What does this mean for you? When searching most library databases, information about our holdings (both print and electronic) are just a click away. There are also easy links to interlibrary loan and web searches. For example, let’s assume you want to do research on lipids in the Biological Sciences database. Searching through this source, you find many articles, several of which look promising. Find It! provides a link to a menu that allows you to check the availability of the article through another online database, or if the article is in a journal on the shelves of the library (at St. Olaf or Carleton). From there, you choose the most promising lead. Another new feature is the improved A-Z journal title list (http://bridge.liblink.umn.edu/bridge/a-z/sto). The new interface allows you to search for a journal title you are interested in (or browse by title or subject). You can then see all the full-text options, including Carleton’s holdings. Find It! saves you the extra work of manually searching for an article after finding a citation for it in a database. In addition, the menus provide choices of alternate library services in case no full-text is available. The result is a faster, more powerful, and less frustrating research experience!
