Scholar Presents Research at
the
Council for Exceptional
Children Annual Convention
April 1st-4th, 2009
Jonathan Hernandez, a senior St. Olaf TRiO McNair
Scholar, recently presented his summer McNair research with his McNair Faculty
Mentor, Professor Heather Campbell at the annual convention for the Council for
Exceptional Children. Jonathan enjoyed his time in Seattle saying, ŇNot only
did I get the opportunity to visit the city of Seattle for the first time, but
I also learned so much from being an active participant at the conference,
which was geared towards teachers.Ó In addition to presenting his research,
Jonathan was able to attend six education seminars, which focused on such
topics as: differentiated instruction, challenges working with English Language
Learners, inclusion, and cultural sensitivity. This was JonathanŐs first time
attending a nation-wide educational teacherŐs conference and he is excited to
apply the information he learned in his future teaching. Jonathan will be
completing his student teaching next semester in St. Paul, MN.
