The framework plan is most analogous to a master plan, or physical plan for the campus. St. Olaf chose this framework style of planning because it really presents a study of our known physical conditions, needs, and opportunities, and integrates them into the context of our other campus wide planning efforts...the strategic plan, the staff plan, and others. The plan then presents a series of inter-related options for meeting each need, or group of needs. The strength of this style of master planning is that no choice eliminates options for meeting the other needs. A given choice may set a different path in motion for succeeding needs, but all remain provided for.
