2012-2013 Social Science Cohort

St. Olaf College TRiO Student Support Services participants will receive a stipend of $200 (up to 10 stipends) or $75 (up to 60 stipends awarded) for completing the scholar plan as outlined below. Scholars will be awarded the stipend on March 8th (one week before 2013-2014 deposits are due) of the 2012-2013 school year.  If more students complete the stipend than funds are available, the stipend is given to the students who have demonstrated the greatest commitment to the cohort.

Demico Davis '13, Chaia Xiong '14 and Kabao Thao '14 are the 2012-2013 Social Science Cohort Student Leaders.

Guidelines for earning $200 stipend (Student enrolled in a course in which SI is offered):

  • Must attend at least 10 Supplemental Instruction sessions in first semester if enrolled in a course with SI; if enrolled in a course with SI 2nd semester, must attend at least 4 SI sessions by March 1st, 2013.
  • Attend at least two (3 approved events for juniors and seniors) approved events in his/her discipline by March 1st, 2013.
  • Attend at least four cohort meetings by March 1st, 2013.
  • First Year and Sophomore Students—meet with cohort Peer Leader twice/semester. By March 1st, will have meet with Peer Leader 3 times.
  • Complete fulfillment forms for each activity and turn them in no later than March 1, 2013.  Preference is one week after the event occurred!
  • Who can apply? All scholars must be taking courses in the Social Science field and be committed to diversifying the Social Science field.

Guidelines for earning $75 stipend (Student NOT enrolled in a course in which SI is offered):

  • Attend at least two approved (3 approved events for juniors and seniors) events in his/her discipline by March 1st.
  • Attend at least four cohort meetings each semester by March 1st.
  • Complete fulfillment forms for each activity and turn them in no later than March 1, 2013.  Preference is one week after the event occurred!
  • First Year and Sophomore Students—meet with cohort Peer Leader twice/semester. By March 1, 2013 will have meet with Peer Leader 3 times.

All fulfillment forms MUST be turned in by March 1, 2013 to Social Science Cohort Advisors Trey Williams or Martha Campo.
