Morning Classes, Summer 2006
Topics I provides hands-on experience in Micorbiology and Physics. Topics II provides hands-on experience in Chemistry and Physics, and Topics III provides and overview of forensic-science.
Students will sharpen reading skills, strengthen vocabulary and fine-tune their essay writing.
Students focus on improving Basic Standards Test and ACT Assessment math skills. There is also a "Word of the Day."
Writing is and art form that is practiced by following a process. The goal of this class is to prepare students for writing at the college level.
Students will sharpen their reading skills, vocabulary and fine-tune their essay writing and explore issues dealing with social justice.
Students attend Capitalism: History and Ideas, in addition to having daily recitation to aid them in their understanding of the Bridge class. |
Afternoon Classes, Summer 2006 Newsletter Each students completes weekly articles for submission to the Summer UB Newsletters. Spanish Students are introduced to the Spanish language and the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. Contemporary World Issues Students will have 15 "session" days to develop a convincing argument for or against an issue relevant to our world today. Students will research the chosen topic and present their findings to Congress. Congress will vote "yea" or "nay" on each issue and enact passing issues into UB law in our own UB utopia. Postsecondary Exploration In addition to completing the PSE curriculum, students also attend college visits, complete college comparison sheets, research colleges, prioritize college choices and complete a resume. Arts Students will gain an appreciation for the major performing arts while participating in an in-depth exploration of one of the performing arts in which the student already has an interest. Careers Students explore their individual skills and interests to see how those factors may affect the careers they choose to explore. In their exploration, students consider education, salary, working conditions and other issues related to the world of work. Literary Magazine Students put together the summer "Lit Mag"by submitting Formulated Poetry, Free Verse Poetry, Short Stories and Comics, Pictures or other yearbook-type entries |
