We have had many requests for Pastor Benson's commentary from this recent Hymn Festival; they available now on our Hymn Festival page!
Thank you to over 2,000 people that came to sing with us during this tour; it was a truly awe-some event that will not soon be forgotten! We couldn't have done it without you - and we wouldn't have wanted to.
On March 10th and 12th, this thrilling hymn festival featured performances by the St. Olaf Cantorei with guest conductor Anton Armstrong, the Highland Park United Methodist Church (TX) Chancel Choir, and the Grand Rapids Symphony Junior Youth Chorus (MI). Pastor Bruce Benson provided narrative and commentary.
Sing For Joy recieved requests from many new national and international radio stations to air our program. We're so pleased to welcome new stations, sponsoring churches, and listeners!
Sindangan is a municipality located in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, Western Mindanao, in the southern part of the Philippines. A coastal town of approximately 89,000 people, it is one of the oldest towns of the province. Over the years, the development of basic infrastructures and services has been instrumental in its continued transformation from a backwater town to a flourishing municipality. It is roughly 86 kilometers from Dipolog City, the city capital of the province. Its economy is primarily agricultural and fishery in nature, with some trading. The main produce in this tropical city consists of rice and corn, fish and other sea harvests, mango, coconut and copra. This is a community of gentle, peace-loving, friendly and hospitable folks. With the continuous evangelistic pursuits of different Christian churches within the municipality, there is a growing number of believers who share the same faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
DXRF-FM (92.1) RADYO NATIN SINDANGAN is a satellite relay station affiliated with Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC.) It’s the first and only radio station in the town of Sindangan; the station is tagged as “Your Friendly Hometown Radio.” The broadcast operations are handled by Hometown Advertising & Promotions, the partner/affiliate of MBC. Brother Runie writes, "We are free to choose our own programs and we have chosen to air the Sing For Joy broadcast. Every Sunday, we have allotted 8 hours for gospel music, devotional programs and other spiritually enriching segments."
The only radio station in town, DXFR enjoys a huge audience share of listeners. Their broadcasts also reach the surrounding eight towns which are also populated with radio listeners. Brother Runie writes, "Sing For Joy will surely bring inspiration to all our listeners who love praise & worship/sacred music. This will be a new source of encouragement to thousands of believers who regularly listen to us, especially our Sunday Christian programming."
Sing For Joy can now be heard on WFSO, a Christian radio station licensed to Olivebridge, New York, in north central Ulster County at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. The station broadcasts on 88.3 FM with 100 Watts from a tower in Olivebridge. WFSO is the full-service NCE flagship of Redeemer Broadcasting, Inc., a not-for-profit Christian radio ministry based in Olivebridge. Redeemer also owns translators W214AH serving Catskill on 90.7 FM, W287BG serving Kingston/Poughkeepsie on 105.3 FM, and W212CC serving Newburgh on 90.3 FM.
WFSO broadcasts Sing For Joy on Sundays at 4:30 pm EST

In the Autumn 2006 edition of

In the Fall of 2005, Sing For Joy went on the road in a series of hymn festivals to Milwaukee; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Cleveland; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Chicago and concluding back home at St. Olaf College in Boe Memorial Chapel. (For more information on the tour, please visit this
link.) The St. Olaf Cantorei, conducted by John Ferguson, led the festivals with commentary provided by radio host and college pastor Bruce Benson. This newly released CD is a compilation taken from recordings made at three locations; Cleveland, Fort Wayne and at home.
The CD's liner notes state, "We hope this live recording allows you to experience the spontaneity and delight that comes when God's people gather for prayer and praise. So now, please join us as we sing for joy." To make joining in easier, Pastor Benson's commentary and the text for the hymns are included with the CD.
