Interview questions for Northfield Reads & Counts and

I work for the Northfield Area Family YMCA. I work on the Wellness Floor at the front desk. I check members in, sell memberships, give tours of the TMCA, hold goal setting orientation meetings and clean when closing. When my on-campus job fell through I had to look off-campus in order to get a sufficient amount of hours. The benefits of working off campus are higher pay, more available hours, and great opportunities to meet people in the Northfield community. The challenge of working off campus is getting there without a car. There is also limited staff at the YMCA so I do not often call in sick and occasionally I feel like I’m working too much.
Overall it has greatly beneficial to become get to know Northfield community residents. It’s great to make connections and learn more about the community. I work about 6-11 hours a work, although I am still working on balancing my time, especially as a first-year. Fortunately, I’m able to get some studying done at my work. I hope to continue to meet more people and find more opportunities in which I can participate within the community. I would like to continue to build on the positive relationships I have build through my work-study.
