How did you learn about St. Olaf and why did you choose to study here?

I was accepted to several undergraduate institutions in the United States that had, like St. Olaf, a solid liberal arts education system, and fostered compassion and a broader perspective into their graduates.  What was unique about St. Olaf, however, were the personable encounters I had via email with the international student advisor and the international students at that time.

What were you involved in at St. Olaf?

I worked as a Resident Assistant (Aug 2004 – May 2006), International Student Counselor (Aug 2003 – May 2004), and have been an active participant in international night (March 2002 – March 2006).

What have you missed about St. Olaf?

St. Olaf provided a safe and encouraging environment to explore various subjects and activities. It allowed me to make my own choices, which led me to find my passion and then embark on a journey to follow my aspirations and desires. In the process, I created valuable and unforgettable friendships. Needless to say I miss the people the most, but I miss the journey I took at St. Olaf which has been the biggest influence in shaping the person I am today.

What advice would you give other international students?

Take advantage of all that St. Olaf has to offer. Participate in as many activities that interest you and that your time allows. Do not hesitate to try something new and always be open. College years are so special!  It is the time to discover yourself and your passions.
