Welcome

Congratulations on your acceptance to St. Olaf College. The Residence Life Staff is looking forward to your arrival! You will develop a unique sense of community as you live, learn and socialize in our residence halls. But first, we will need some information regarding your housing preferences.

How to Sign Up for Housing

You received an email link address in your acceptance letter that allows you to fill out your housing preferences online. This is a good chance to tell us about yourself: what time you go to bed, your musical tastes, where you would like to live, etc. In order for us to make the best possible assignment for you, please provide us with as much information as you can. Every effort will be make to honor your requests. The date of your initial payment to the college and completion of your Housing Preference Card (via mail or online) may effect your housing assignment, so please take care of both as soon as possible.

If you have a preferred roommate, please provide the name of this person in the space provided. Students admitted to one of the conversation programs are housed in specific halls for each program. In these cases, students will be automatically housed in the hall associated with the program, not necessarily their first housing choice. Please address any other special needs (e.g. health needs, etc.) to the Residence Life Office in writing as soon as possible.

Housing assignments are made on a continuing basis beginning in early summer. In accordance with the college's nondiscrimination policy, housing assignments are made without regard to a student's race. You will receive your roommate information and your room and hall assignment in early August.

All of the residence halls are coeducational. The following link is to a brochure about the residence halls. It will give you a brief description of our facilities and information about other amenities.
